Hello,

I would like to calculate the effect of a metal plate with a hole where a wire is perpendicularly going through this hole.
Here the capacity as well as primarily the inductivity are of interest.

Conditions (example): The plate can be aluminium or iron. Say 20x20cm^2. Thicknes: 0.5cm. Hole: 4cm^2. Wire: 0.5cm^2.
The current is around 500mA peak to peak and the frequnecy range is from 0 to 40kHz.

I was able to modify a file having a plate with a hole but I have no clue how to:
- place the wire
- calculate the impedance of the plate nor the capacity

Could you pleace give me a hint?

Regarding the inductance extraction, I am answering your second post, in which you show the progress you already made so far.

For the capacitance, the solvers today are independent, i.e. you can calculate (quasi)static capacitance and (quasi)static inductance.

So if you need the capacitance, you need to run a simulation in FastCap2/FasterCap. However in general it is not trivial how to put the two quantities together; there are some articles you may read to have a better insight into this topic, please check the Literature page, mainly under the 'Interconnections' section.
